Professor Dong Mingdong and Doctor Lin Lin visit Biomass Group and give lectures to Group Members

  2012.12.31, ProfDong Mingdong and Dr. Lin Lin, who come from iNANO, visited Xishuangbanna tropic botanical garden and lectured for biomass group members. In the morning of December 31, ProfDong first introduced a series research works of using scanning probe microscopy and related techniques for analysis structure characteristics and biological effects of macromolecular under nanometer scales. He emphasized the applications of molecular self assembled in the DNA structure changes, applications of atomic force microscopy in biology, study of the macromolecular self assembly using scanning tunneling microscopy, test and analysis of single molecule mechanical spectrum, Filamentous bacteria transport electrons over centimeter distances. Then, Dr. Lin reported preparation of a novel carbon based catalyst and its application in biodiesel production. (更多…)

New US Patent Issued for ‘Fast Hydrolysis’ Process for Biomass

According to USPTO Public PAIR,  a U.S. patent #: 8268126 has been issued to Zhen Fang (Kunming, CN) and Chun Fang (WA, US)  for technology that provides a simple and low-cost method to fast dissolve and hydrolyze lignocellulosic biomass with great potential for a novel biorefinery. (更多…)

Drs. Chin-Hua Chia and Hong Cui visit Biomass Group and give lectures to Group Members

  2012.7.18-19, Dr. Chin-Hua Chia and Dr. Hong Cui, who come from Univesiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universityof Hawaiiat Manoa, visited Xishuangbanna tropic botanical garden and lectured for biomass group members. In the afternoon of July 18 , Dr. Chin-Hua Chia first introduced biomass resources in Malaysia, then he reported their research projects, targets and achievements in his research team. Their research achievements including: Production of glucose from EFB cellulose via acid hydrolysis (HCl and H2SO4); Production and characterization of cellulose and nano-crystalline cellulose (NCC) from kenaf core wood; Production of antibacterial cellulose and chitosan beads loaded with silver (Ag) nanoparticles and graphene oxide (GO); et al.
