Two Master and PhD students supervised by Professor Zhen Fang defended their theses
On May 21st, 2013, two students supervised by Professor Zhen Fang from Biomass group, Mr. Bao-jin Xue and Mr. Xiao-fei Tian, successfully defended their graduation oral examinations in Kunming Brach of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The graduation oral examinations was held from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Professor Zhen Fang, other staffs and students of Biomass group, as well as five defence committee members who were professors respectively from Kunming institute of Botany, CAS, Yunnan University, Kunming University of Technology, witnessed the event.
Title of Mr. Xue’s master thesis was
‘Solid Ca-Fe magnetic catalyst preparation and its application in biodiesel production’,
Title of Mr. Tian’s PhD desertation was
‘Studies on solvent-pretreatment of lignocelluloses for the production of sugar and ethanol’ .
Assessed by statement presenting and comprehensive tests, both of the two candidates were finally passed the examines through unanimous approvals of the committee to confer doctoral degree and master degree in Natural Sciences to Mr. Tian and Xue, subjected to the approval by the Academic Degrees Committees of the college and university.
Afterwards, Mr. Tian was awarded the doctoral degree of Natural Sciences in Botany by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in July, 2013. At the same time, a master degree of Natural Sciences in Botany was awarded to Mr. Xue as well.
Congratulations to Mr. Tian and Mr. Xue! Wish their training in biomass group does not only benefit their future careers, but also strengthens their existing scientific views as well as networks of domestic and international collaborations.
薛宝金和田霄飞通过硕博学位论文答辩
2013年5月21日，生物能源组方真研究员指导的两名研究生薛宝金和田霄飞在中科院西双版纳热带植物园昆明分部进行了学位论文的答辩。
答辩时间为下午1:30到5:00。来自中国科学院昆明植物研究所、西双版纳热带植物园、云南大学和昆明理工大学的5位专家评委以及导师方真研究员和生物能源研究组的所有其他老师、学生听取了答辩。
薛宝金同学的硕士论文答辩题目是
“磁性Ca-Fe固体催化剂的合成及其用于生物柴油的制备”，
田霄飞同学博士论文的答辩题目是
“溶剂预处理木质纤维素生产可发酵糖及乙醇的研究 ”。
经过对论文内容陈述和现场问答环节的考核，答辩委员会专家一致表决了两位同学的答辩通过决议， 建议授予田霄飞和薛宝金理学博士与理学硕士的学位。
2013年7月，中国科学院大学分别授予了田霄飞和薛宝金理学博士与理学硕士的学位。
