{"id":3881,"date":"2020-02-25T16:22:14","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T08:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/woodrefinery.com\/zhenfang\/?p=3881"},"modified":"2020-09-12T17:31:47","modified_gmt":"2020-09-12T09:31:47","slug":"direct-production-of-biodiesel-from-waste-oils-with-a-strong-solid-base-from-alkalized-industrial-clay-ash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woodrefinery.com\/zhenfang\/direct-production-of-biodiesel-from-waste-oils-with-a-strong-solid-base-from-alkalized-industrial-clay-ash\/","title":{"rendered":"Direct production of biodiesel from waste oils with a strong solid base from alkalized industrial clay ash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Direct production of biodiesel from waste oils with a strong solid base from alkalized industrial clay ash<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recently, PhD student <strong>Miss Wen-jie Cong<\/strong> supervised by <strong>Prof. Zhen Fang<\/strong> published a research article in Applied Energy about biodiesel production from high acid (AV) waste oils with a solid base derived from spent bleaching clay (SBC).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Biodiesel was directly one-step produced from waste oils without pretreatment catalyzed by a solid base alkalized from SBC ash. Optimized conditions were obtained with 99.1% biodiesel yield from soybean oil with an orthogonal design. The base catalyst was stable within 8 cycles (&gt; 95% biodiesel yield) and resistant to saponification (AV = 9.7 mg KOH\/g, 96.5% biodiesel yield). The base was characterized with XRD, EDX-mapping, FT-IR, XRF and TPD, and it had similar strong basicity to Na<sub>2<\/sub>SiO<sub>3<\/sub> (0.21 vs. 0.22 mmol\/g for Na<sub>2<\/sub>SiO<sub>3<\/sub>) with active sites of Na<sub>2<\/sub>O and CH<sub>3<\/sub>ONa evolved from Na<sub>2<\/sub>SiO<sub>3<\/sub> and NaAlSiO<sub>4<\/sub> by reactions of NaOH with oxides (e.g., SiO<sub>2<\/sub>, Al<sub>2<\/sub>O<sub>3<\/sub>) in SBC ash. Furthermore, the base was magnetized with magnetism of 6.86 emu\/g by carbonizing residual oil in SBC as carbon support and reductant (of Fe<sub>2<\/sub>O<sub>3 <\/sub>to magnetic Fe<sub>3<\/sub>O<sub>4<\/sub> particles). It catalyzed soybean oil to produce biodiesel with 99.2% yield and blended oil (AV = 5.9) to biodiesel with 91.9% yield without any saponification. The catalyst was magnetically separated and reused for 3 cycles with 87% yield. The non-magnetic base could also efficiently catalyze actual SBC oil for the production of biodiesel with 95% yield at AV of 10. This work realized the full use of inorganics in SBC, and its oil for direct biodiesel production at a low temperature (i.e., 65 <em>vs.<\/em> 120 <sup>o<\/sup>C with sulfuric acid process) without wastes produced and results can easily find practical applications for waste oils.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Related results were accepted in Applied Energy:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WJ Cong, YT Wang, H Li, <strong>Zhen Fang*<\/strong>, J Sun, HT Liu, JT Liu, S Tang, L Xu. It was further magnetized for easy separation.\uff08\u4ee5\u5e9f\u767d\u571f\u4e3a\u539f\u6599\u5408\u6210\u56fa\u4f53\u78b1\uff0c\u50ac\u5316\u5e9f\u5f03\u6cb9\u8102\u5236\u5907\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u3002\u8be5\u50ac\u5316\u5242\u53ef\u5faa\u73af\u4f7f\u75288\u6b21\u4e14\u53ef\u6297\u7682\u5316\uff0c\u5e76\u88ab\u8fdb\u4e00\u6b65\u78c1\u5316\u4e3a\u78c1\u6027\u56fa\u4f53\u50ac\u5316\u5242\u4ee5\u4fbf\u4e8e\u5206\u79bb\u3002\uff09.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u4ee5\u5e9f\u767d\u571f\u4e3a\u539f\u6599\u5408\u6210\u56fa\u4f53\u78b1\u5e76\u7528\u4e8e\u76f4\u63a5\u50ac\u5316\u5e9f\u5f03\u6cb9\u8102\u5236\u5907\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u6700\u8fd1\uff0c<strong>\u535a\u58eb\u751f\u4e1b\u6587\u6770<\/strong>\uff08\u5973\uff09\u5728\u65b9\u8001\u5e08\u7684\u6307\u5bfc\u4e0b\uff0c\u5728\u56fd\u9645\u5b66\u672f\u671f\u520aApplied Energy\uff08IF8.4\uff0cQ1\uff09\u53d1\u8868\u4ee5\u5e9f\u767d\u571f\u4e3a\u539f\u6599\u5408\u6210\u56fa\u4f53\u78b1\u4ee5\u5236\u5907\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u7684\u7814\u7a76\u6027\u8bba\u6587\u3002<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u901a\u8fc7NaOH\u78b1\u5316\u5e9f\u767d\u571f\u7070\u5408\u6210\u56fa\u4f53\u78b1\uff0c\u76f4\u63a5\u50ac\u5316\u5e9f\u5f03\u6cb9\u8102\u5236\u5907\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u3002\u9996\u5148\uff0c\u4ee5\u5927\u8c46\u6cb9\u4e3a\u539f\u6599\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u6b63\u4ea4\u8bd5\u9a8c\u786e\u5b9a\u4e86\u6700\u4f18\u53cd\u5e94\u6761\u4ef6\uff08\u9187\u6cb9\u6bd411:1\uff0c\u50ac\u5316\u5242\u91cf8 wt%\uff0c\u6e29\u5ea665\u2103\uff0c\u53cd\u5e943 h\uff09\uff0c\u8be5\u6761\u4ef6\u4e0b\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u5f97\u7387\u4e3a99.1%\uff0c\u8be5\u56fa\u4f53\u78b18\u6b21\u5faa\u73af\u540e\u4ea7\u7387\u4ecd\u9ad8\u4e8e95%\u3002\u8be5\u56fa\u4f53\u78b1\u53ef\u6297\u7682\u5316\uff0c\u6cb9\u8102\u9178\u503c\u4e3a9.7 mg KOH\/g \u65f6\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u4ea7\u7387\u53ef\u8fbe96.5%\uff0c\u50ac\u5316\u9178\u503c\u4e3a10\u7684\u5e9f\u767d\u571f\u6cb9\u53ef\u5f97\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u4ea7\u7387\u4e3a95%\u3002\u6b64\u5916\uff0c\u8fdb\u4e00\u6b65\u901a\u8fc7\u78b3\u5316\u5e9f\u767d\u571f\u4e2d\u7684\u6b8b\u6cb9\u4f5c\u4e3a\u78b3\u8f7d\u4f53\u548c\u8fd8\u539f\u5242\uff08\u5c06\u6c27\u5316\u94c1\u8f6c\u5316\u4e3a\u56db\u6c27\u5316\u4e09\u94c1\uff09\uff0c\u78c1\u5316\u4e3a\u78c1\u6027\u56fa\u4f53\u78b1\u50ac\u5316\u5242\uff086.86 emu\/g\uff09\u3002\u8be5\u78c1\u6027\u56fa\u4f53\u78b1\u50ac\u5316\u5927\u8c46\u6cb9\u5236\u5907\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u4ea7\u7387\u4e3a99.2%\uff0c\u7ecf\u78c1\u6027\u5206\u79bb\u540e\u53ef\u91cd\u590d\u4f7f\u75283\u6b21\uff08\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u4ea7\u7387\u4e3a87%\uff09\uff0c\u50ac\u5316\u9178\u503c5.9 mg KOH\/g\u7684\u6cb9\u8102\u5f97\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u4ea7\u7387\u4e3a91.9%\u4e14\u672a\u89c1\u7682\u5316\u3002\u672c\u7814\u7a76\u5145\u5206\u5229\u7528\u5e9f\u767d\u571f\u4e2d\u7684\u65e0\u673a\u7269\uff08\u5982\u4e8c\u6c27\u5316\u7845\u3001\u6c27\u5316\u94dd\u7b49\uff09\uff0c\u5e76\u5b9e\u73b0\u4f4e\u6e29\u4e0b\u78b1\u50ac\u5316\u4e00\u6b65\u6cd5\u8f6c\u5316\u5e9f\u767d\u571f\u6cb9\u4e3a\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u3002\u6574\u4e2a\u751f\u4ea7\u5de5\u827a\u65e0\u5e9f\u5f03\u7269\u751f\u6210\uff0c\u5e76\u6613\u4e8e\u5e94\u7528\u4e8e\u5de5\u4e1a\u751f\u4ea7\u751f\u7269\u67f4\u6cb9\u3002\u8be6\u60c5\u53ef\u89c1\uff1a<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WJ Cong, YT Wang, H Li, <strong>Zhen Fang*<\/strong>, J Sun, HT Liu, JT Liu, S Tang, L Xu.
