1 Master and 2 PhD students supervised by Professor Zhen Fang\u00a0defended their theses<\/strong><\/p>\n

On May 21st<\/sup>, 2013, two students supervised by\u00a0Professor Zhen Fang<\/strong>\u00a0from Biomass group, Mr. Bao-jin Xue and Mr. Xiao-fei Tian, successfully defended their graduation oral examinations in Kunming Brach of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n

The graduation oral examinations was held from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm.\u00a0Professor Zhen Fang<\/strong>, other staffs and students of Biomass group, as well as five defence committee members who were professors respectively from Kunming institute of Botany, CAS, Yunnan University, Kunming University of Technology, witnessed the event.<\/p>\n

Title of Mr. Xue\u2019s master thesis was<\/p>\n

\u2018Solid Ca-Fe magnetic catalyst preparation and its application in biodiesel production\u2019,\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Title of Mr. Tian\u2019s PhD desertation was<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u2018Studies on solvent-pretreatment of lignocelluloses for the production of sugar and ethanol\u2019 .\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Assessed by statement presenting and comprehensive tests, both of the two candidates were finally passed the examines through unanimous approvals of the committee\u00a0 to confer\u00a0\u00a0doctoral degree and\u00a0\u00a0master degree in Natural Sciences to Mr. Tian and Xue,\u00a0subjected to the approval by the Academic Degrees Committees of the college and university.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, Mr. Tian was awarded the doctoral degree of Natural Sciences in Botany by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in July, 2013. At the same time, a master degree of Natural Sciences in Botany was awarded to Mr. Xue as well.<\/p>\n

Additionally, at the end of 2013, Mr. Yun-duo Long, a doctoral student supervised by\u00a0Prof. Zhen Fang<\/strong>, returned to the University of Science and Technology of China, completed his doctoral dissertation defense successfully<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The dissertation defense topic is:<\/p>\n

“Research on Biodiesel Production and Hydrothermal Conversion of By-Product Glycerol Catalyzed by Sodium Silicate<\/span>“.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prof. Zhen Fang<\/span><\/strong>, in collaboration with Professor Sarani Zakaria and Dr. Chin Hua Chia from Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM; Bangi, Malaysia), co-supervised doctoral student, Miss Fei-ling Pua, who returned to Malaysia, defended her doctoral dissertation successfully in 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

Congratulations to Mr. Tian, Mr. Long, Miss Pua and Mr. Xue! Wish their training in biomass group does not only benefit their future careers, but also strengthens their existing scientific views as well as networks of domestic and international collaborations.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u6eb6\u5242\u9884\u5904\u7406\u6728\u8d28\u7ea4\u7ef4\u7d20\u751f\u4ea7\u53ef\u53d1\u9175\u7cd6\u53ca\u4e59\u9187\u7684\u7814\u7a76 \u201d\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u7ecf\u8fc7\u5bf9\u8bba\u6587\u5185\u5bb9\u9648\u8ff0\u548c\u73b0\u573a\u95ee\u7b54\u73af\u8282\u7684\u8003\u6838\uff0c\u7b54\u8fa9\u59d4\u5458\u4f1a\u4e13\u5bb6\u4e00\u81f4\u8868\u51b3\u4e86\u4e24\u4f4d\u540c\u5b66\u7684\u7b54\u8fa9\u901a\u8fc7\u51b3\u8bae\uff0c \u5efa\u8bae\u6388\u4e88\u7530\u9704\u98de\u548c\u859b\u5b9d\u91d1\u7406\u5b66\u535a\u58eb\u4e0e\u7406\u5b66\u7855\u58eb\u7684\u5b66\u4f4d\u3002<\/p>\n

2013\u5e747\u6708\uff0c\u4e2d\u56fd\u79d1\u5b66\u9662\u5927\u5b66\u5206\u522b\u6388\u4e88\u4e86\u7530\u9704\u98de\u548c\u859b\u5b9d\u91d1\u7406\u5b66\u535a\u58eb\u4e0e\u7406\u5b66\u7855\u58eb\u7684\u5b66\u4f4d\u3002<\/p>\n

\u53e6\u5916\uff0c2013\u5e74\u5e95\uff0c\u65b9\u771f\u7814\u7a76\u5458<\/strong>\u6307\u5bfc\u7684\u535a\u58eb\u751f\u9f99\u8fd0\u591a\u540c\u5b66\u4e5f\u56de\u4e2d\u56fd\u79d1\u6280\u5927\u5b66\u5b8c\u901a\u8fc7\u535a\u5b66\u4f4d\u8bba\u6587\u7b54\u8fa9\u3002<\/p>\n

\u795d\u8d3a\u7530\u9704\u98de\u540c\u5b66\u3001\u9f99\u8fd0\u591a\u540c\u5b66\u3001\u6f58\u6167\u7433(Fei\u00a0ling\u00a0Pua)\u5c0f\u59d0\u548c\u859b\u5b9d\u91d1\u540c\u5b66\uff01\u76f8\u4fe1\u4ed6\u4eec\u7684\u5b66\u4e1a\u751f\u6daf\u4e0d\u4ec5\u4f1a\u4e3a\u4ed6\u4eec\u5c06\u6765\u5de5\u4f5c\u6253\u4e0b\u575a\u5b9e\u7684\u57fa\u7840\uff0c\u8fd8\u62d3\u5bbd\u4e86\u4ed6\u4eec\u7684\u79d1\u7814\u89c6\u91ce\u548c\u56fd\u5185\u5916\u5b66\u672f\u534f\u4f5c\u5173\u7cfb\u3002<\/p>\n
